An Index features works by twenty-four artists who have been in residence at MOCA for the past year as a part of the inaugural Akin Studio Program. The show makes visible the labours of artistic creation through an open and honest charting of the process, challenges, delights, and failures of making art in this city.

Installation Drawings is a collection of drawings of what-might-have-been a bigger piece on a sturdier and valuable medium. Similar to the exhibition statement, this is an attempt of charting an honest expression and labour in the studio.

The space at MOCA allowed me to have a habit of drawing something every day. Drawing solely based on memories, my rule was to finish a drawing on the same day it was started. I am curious about how certain memories stay for a long time, and how ephemeral they are in nature. A number of them are on newsprint, which is light in weight and changes color when it absorbs direct sunlight. By having them raised from the wall and float in the air, it emphasizes the ephemeral nature of the medium.

The show was curated by Marsya Maharani and Marjan Verstappen from YTB Gallery.

Documentations were photographed by Yuula Benivolski.
